A checklist is needed when you want the landing page to be optimised and also lead to conversion. Therefore a few things are important that you will need to take into account.
Some are more attractive for customers than others, and some information is more useful for a specific product. This means that for all different products or services the target group needs to be taken into consideration, product information needs to be selected and a design needs to be made to ensure it attracts possible clients to sign up or buy the product.
Landing pages vary for different products and services. They contain elements that are unique for all companies since each of these elements can be important to a landing page. The selection of how to display content depends on the target group, product or service and information. In the end there are many components to keep in mind. The following list contains a checklist that comes in handy when you decide to use landing pages for your website. This list is not structured from best to least important factors.
1. Headline
When visitors ‘land’ on your landing page they logically want to know more about the title they’ve just clicked on. This means the headline should always refer to the offering of the product or service in the landing page. So it should sum up what the visitor can expect in one sentence.
2. Copy
It’s important that your visitors can clearly understand your value proposition. Thus, write the text with the right tone and voice. Use bullet points to break up large blocks of text to keep it interesting and informative for the reader.
3. Keywords
The keywords used should mainly be put into the title of the page, headers and text.
4. Images
The image should be relevant and give visitors an idea of what they will receive. It should be a tangible idea of what the product or service will look like. Most of all provide big and clear images that are also compelling for the website.
5. Call-To-Action
This is probably the most important component of a landing page. A call to action is the part of the page where the visitor, when done reading is prompted to click a button to fill in a form or subscribe to an e-mail list. Without a call to action, the page would simply be an informational page thus, visitors will go back to where they came from after reading the information. A call to action gives the user a perspective on what to do with the information that they just saw and read.
In conclusion, call-to-actions have many different forms of display. The most common are buttons placed after a piece of information inviting the user to subscribe or buy the product/service. Furthermore, make sure it’s clearly visible at either the top of the page (above the fold) or at the bottom of the page (under the fold).
